OBJECTIVES

“Music is movement, not chord progressions”. This Barry Harris’ quote will guide us through this book.

In my humble opinion, I think that Barry Harris has a UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE ON MUSICAL THEORY, ONE THAT WHICH IS NOT COMMONLY FOUND ON MUSIC SCHOOLS.

On this first volume you’ll find the development, explanation, harmonization and how to apply the four scales to which Barry Harris refers to.

* Major 6th Diminished Scale

* Minor 6th Diminished Scale

* Dominant 6th Diminished Scale

* Dominant 6th b5 Diminished Scale

We are also going to study how to overlay these scales to get different sounds and textures.

Our objective is to start this study from its origin, explaining the fundamentals, where does it come from, how to develop it and apply it, so in this way you’ll have every element necessary to explore it.
